About Us

Purpose: The Lykens Valley Bible Church exists for the four-fold purpose organized around the WIFE acronym: Worship God, Instruct Christians, Fellowship, and Extend the gospel. John the Baptist described the church as Christ’s bride (John 3:22-36), and the bride will one day become the wife (Revelation 19:7-9).

Target Audience: Lykens VBC serves the people of Lykens Borough, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding Wiconisco Township. All are welcome, however, to participate and minister together.

Strategy: To share the gospel in our home communities first (Lykens and Wiconisco), then the region (Northern Dauphin and Western Schuylkill Counties), and whenever possible to every other part of the earth. This model is in keeping with Jesus’ strategy in Acts 1:8 that Christians serve as witnesses “in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

The Gospel: Because Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again from the grave, everyone who believes His death was sufficient to pay for their own sins will experience new life on earth and eternal life in heaven (Romans 6:1-11; John 3:16; 2 Cor 5:17-20).

Becoming a Christian is as easy as A – B – C:

  • Admit that you are a sinner; “For all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory” (Romans 3:23).
  • Believe that Jesus died on the cross to forgive you of your sins; “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ” (Romans 6:23).
  • Confess that Jesus is Lord; “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation" (Romans 10:9,10).
